SPLOST has made such a huge difference in Gordon County Schools! We have been able to complete many project upgrades and improvements across the district for our students and community. Here are some of the many improvements made over the summer.
Gordon Central High School's tennis courts were resurfaced, and the Ratner Stadium bleachers were restored after pressure washing and painting. Come check out these improvements at this evening's Freshman Orientation! #ExtraordinaryGCS #ExtraordinaryGCHS
During Open House, you will be asked to complete a family and community survey. This survey is essential in helping give us insight to how you view our schools and provide valuable feedback about our school district as we start the new school year. Your input is essential in helping us assess our strengths and identify areas for improvement.
Your feedback plays a vital role in our continuous improvement efforts and helps ensure that we are providing the best possible educational experience for our students. Thank you for your time and support in making Gordon County Schools the best it can be!

Gordon Central is proud to announce Coach Jonathan Sanderson as the new Head Coach of the Lady Warriors basketball team. This appointment follows the recent decision by Coach Maci Mills to step away from her coaching responsibilities with the team.
In her public statement, Coach Mills shared, "After much thought and prayer, I’ve made the decision to step down from coaching basketball at Gordon Central. This role has meant the world to me. Over the last 8 years, I’ve had the privilege of coaching some of the most incredible young women... Thank you to every player who let me be a part of their story. I’ll always be cheering for you—not just in the game, but in life."
Coach Mills will be missed on the court, but she will continue to support the Warrior Nation through her classroom responsibilities and the many extracurricular activities with which she is involved.
Dr. Amy Parker, Principal at Gordon Central High School, commented on this change for the Lady Warriors, "First, I would like to take a moment to thank Coach Maci Mills for her years of dedication and leadership as coach of our girls' basketball team. While she steps away from her coaching responsibilities with the team, I am confident she will continue to make a positive impact as a member of the faculty at Gordon Central High School. As we look to the future, I am thrilled to welcome Coach Jonathan Sanderson to his new role as head coach. His experience, passion, and commitment to developing our athletes both on and off the court make him an excellent fit to lead the Lady Warriors. We are excited for the journey ahead and look forward to all that Coach Sanderson will bring to our team and our school community in his new role."
With more than 13 years of coaching experience—including the past four years as an assistant coach for the boys' basketball team—Coach Sanderson brings a deep passion for the game and a proven track record of success. During his time with the boys' program, he helped lead the team to its most successful seasons since 2006, highlighted by a trip to the state playoffs earlier this year.
Known for his commitment to player development, Coach Sanderson focuses on helping student-athletes grow, not only in skill but also in confidence and character—both on and off the court.
A proud member of the Gordon Central community, he lives in Calhoun with his fiancée, Leah, and their children—Bryce, Karsen, Gracie, and Daylen—all of whom are proud members of Warrior Nation. Coach Sanderson works in the Special Education Department at Gordon Central and is continuing his education in that field.
Dedicated to the game and proud to be a part of the Gordon Central family, Coach Sanderson states, "I am looking forward to this next chapter and can’t wait to get to work with the Lady Warriors!"
Are you interested in joining the team? Coach Sanderson will be hosting an open gym this Wednesday, June 26, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Whether you're a seasoned player or just curious about the game, this is the perfect opportunity to get involved. Come out and see what Lady Warriors basketball is all about!
