The College Board has recently honored 5 exceptional students from Sonoraville High School for their outstanding achievements as Advanced Placement (AP) Scholars during the 2024-25 school year. This outstanding accomplishment is a testament to the dedication and academic excellence of these students and their schools.
The students who earned the distinction of AP Scholar from Sonoraville High School are as follows:
1. Kaleb King - AP Scholar with Honor
2. Sadie Sahadeo - AP Scholar
3. Madelyn Scroggs - AP Scholar with Honor
4. Miley Silva - AP Scholar with Honor
5. Emily Walker - AP Scholar
• AP Scholar achievements are categorized into different levels of recognition:
• AP Scholar: Awarded to students who receive scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP Exams.
• AP Scholar with Honor: Granted to students who achieve an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, with scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams.
• AP Scholar with Distinction: Conferred upon students who maintain an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, with scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.
• AP International Diploma: Presented to students who exhibit exceptional achievement across various disciplines, subject to eligibility requirements.
These exemplary students have not only demonstrated academic prowess but have also exemplified the values of hard work and dedication, which will undoubtedly serve them well in their future endeavors.

Congratulations to the following SHS Band members for being selected to be members of the North Georgia Youth Wind Symphony: Jet Johnston, Trey Smith, Leo Parra-Torres, and Cooper Maytum. 🎉🎶
These students were selected based on auditions and will perform with some of the top players from several school districts in North GA. The NGYWS will perform several concerts this year at Reinhardt University and have also been selected to perform at the Georgia Music Educators Association In-Service Conference in Athens at the Classic Center in January 2026!

At last night’s Board of Education meeting, Gordon County Schools recognized Sonoraville High School track star Jazmine Hunter for her outstanding achievement in May. A multi-sport athlete and honors student, Jazmine capped off her school year by winning the Class 2A state championship in the Triple Jump. When asked if she felt pressure to win a state championship again, Jazmine replied, “Pressure is a privilege.” Her dedication, talent, and hard work have made her a true standout, and we are proud to celebrate her extraordinary success as a Lady Phoenix.
