Rushi Patel has been named Valedictorian of the Class of 2026. He is the son of Tony and Dilpa Patel and plans to attend the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he will major in Finance.

Morgan Ava Guyton has been named Salutatorian of the Class of 2026. She is the daughter of Alan and Jackie Guyton and plans to attend the University of Georgia, where she will major in English.

Please join us in congratulating Rushi and Morgan on this outstanding achievement. We commend them for their exceptional academic dedication and wish them continued success in their future endeavors.

Congratulations to Sonoraville High School senior Morgan Guyton for winning the regional Young Georgia Authors Writing Contest for 12th grade. Her piece, titled The Terminal Star, earned top honors among competing school districts in the region.

Morgan’s writing will now advance to compete against senior winners from across the state. We are proud of her accomplishment and wish her the best of luck at the state level.

🎟️ Each senior will receive 11 tickets and 3 parking passes—all guests must have a ticket to attend.
🎉 Tickets will be distributed during the Senior Parade on 5/12.

Graphic titled “Phoenix Weekly – March 2026.” The calendar lists events for March 16–21 at Sonoraville High School. Monday includes baseball vs. Gordon Lee and tennis at Ringgold. Tuesday includes soccer vs. North Cobb and tennis vs. Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe. Wednesday and Friday include Jostens class ring orders during lunch. Thursday includes an FCCLA Krispy Kreme fundraiser, golf at Fields Ferry, tennis at Rockmart, and baseball at Union. Friday also includes Neon Night at 7:00 PM, baseball vs. Union, and soccer at North Murray. Saturday includes track at Dalton and a baseball yard sale from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Upcoming events listed are prom tickets on sale for $40, Phoenix & Fenders on March 28 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, and spring break April 6–10.

Gordon County Schools will operate on a two-hour delay Monday, March 16, due to the potential for severe weather in the morning. Weather conditions can be unpredictable, and this delay is being implemented to help ensure the safety of our drivers, bus riders, faculty, and families tomorrow morning.

Please adjust your child’s morning drop-off time by two hours. Buses will also operate on a two-hour delay behind their usual route times. Elementary schools will begin at 9:30 a.m. Middle and high schools will begin at 10:30 a.m.

We will continue to monitor weather conditions closely and are working with local agencies as needed. If any additional changes become necessary, families will be notified promptly through our communication channels.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we prioritize the safety of our school community.
