
Gordon County Schools is on an early release schedule Wednesday, March 13th and Thursday, March 14th for Parent Conferences. We hope families were able to schedule time to meet with teachers to discuss your child's progress this year. If not, you are encouraged to stay in contact with your school and connect with teachers to find time to discuss academic achievement and future goals.
Friday, March 15th is an At-Home Learning Day. We hope that your child or children are able to explore learning opportunities that day and catch up on assignments, projects, and materials as we approach End-of-Course and End-of-Grade Milestones testing.

Congratulations to the SHS Symphonic Band for another outstanding performance at the GMEA Large Group Performance Evaluation! The band received an overall Superior rating for their stage performance as well as a Superior rating for their Sightreading performance. Great job, Phoenix!!

As the leader of her department, Ashley exemplifies unwavering dedication and exceptional leadership skills. Ashley's commitment extends beyond the classroom as she actively contributes to co-curricular groups such as Literary and Youth Leadership. Because she interacts with students in a pleasant, affirming manner (with a loving dose of wit) and because of her efforts to design engaging lessons, she has created a positive learning environment. Maya Beckman and Isabel Ulibarri attended the Georgia Northern Mountain District Speech and Debate Tournament at Calhoun High School on Saturday, March 2nd.
Isabel competed in the U.S. Extemporary Speech Event and Maya Beckman represented Original Oratory. In addition, Coach Sonja Mangrum won the District New Coach of the Year award.

Mrs. Harrison's Essentials of Healthcare class dissected chicken legs for a lab Wednesday. Over the last several weeks, they have learned about the integumentary, skeletal, and muscle systems. This lab gave students a better understanding of all the parts of each of those systems and how the muscles and bones work together to provide the body movement.
