Reminder: All Gordon County Schools students will be provided breakfast and lunch at no cost for the 2024-2025 school year.
Children need healthy meals to learn. Gordon County Schools offers healthy meals every school day at no charge to students, and we can now provide that for all children this school year. Our food service receives support from the U.S. Department of Agriculture through the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs.
By participating in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) and eliminating the need for meal applications, Gordon County Schools will reduce administrative and printing costs. Families also benefit from the elimination of completing and submitting meal applications.
School lunch is critical to student health and well-being, especially for low-income students—and ensures that students have nutrition they need throughout the day to learn. Research shows that receiving free or reduced-price school lunches reduces food insecurity, obesity rates, and poor health. This provision will help to remove any stigma or concerns about inaccessibility to healthy food options during the school day.
Thank you to Nicole Head, Director of School Nutrition, Superintendent Alice Mashburn, and our Gordon County Schools Board of Education for making healthy food accessibility a top priority for Gordon County families.

Gordon County Schools is introducing My Ride K-12, a parent communication app, to its transportation operations. My Ride K-12 will be integrated with our transportation software for families to access estimated times of arrival or departure for buses.
My Ride K-12 is designed so you can access your student’s bus schedules efficiently. GPS technology on the bus works with the district’s software to automatically calculate the timing of a bus route to give you the most accurate ETAs with real-time updates and route changes.
My Ride K-12 is now available for you to download on your Apple or Android mobile device. Our flyer provides step-by-step registration instructions, and you can access the app to download in a variety of ways. Scan the QR code on the flyer, follow the hyperlinks below, or search your app store for “My Ride K-12” to download and register your family on the app. Student bus route information will be available August 2nd on My Ride K-12.

Gordon County Schools would like to thank Shaw Industries for their 2024 Shaw Community Grant of $2,500 toward our Helping Hands Ending Hunger initiative. We appreciate support from our community partners and will utilize the grant to help feed families across our district.
Gordon County Schools has partnered with Helping Hands Ending Hunger to provide Gordon County families and students with nutritious food outside of the regular school day. In addition to providing breakfast and lunch at no cost to families in 2024-2025, 8 of our Gordon County Schools are helping those in need of meal choices at home through the Helping Hands Initiative.
Gordon County Schools is covering what costs it can, but we cannot do this alone. We are asking our community at large to come together and help change lives with nutritious meal opportunities for families in need of assistance.
