AMS recognized the 8th grade girls at last night's game.
Gordon Central’s 2022 STAR Student, Lindsey Lowrance, chose Ashworth’s
Coach Melanie Moore as her 2022 STAR Teacher!
STAR is an acronym for Student Teacher Achievement Recognition, and the STAR Student is the senior with the highest SAT score on a single test date who is in the top 10% of their class. This year’s STAR Student is Lindsey Lowrance. In addition to being recognized for their achievements, STAR Students are asked to select the teacher whom they feel made the most significant contribution to their scholastic development to be named their STAR Teacher, and Lindsey selected Ms. Melanie Moore of Ashworth Middle School. Congratulations to both Lindsey and Ms. Moore!

In JV action last night, our girls came away with a sound victory of 31-5! All our girls played well, and each made big contributions. Ma'shell Mcfadden led with 10 points. Emma Bennett had a great game and scored 6 in the post with great rebounding. Skylin Manis and Jocelyn Fuentes scored 4 each. Emma Derrick scored 4 as well and led with steals. Taylor Gal worked hard to drive to the basket and came away with 3 points.
In varsity action, the girls worked hard and gave great hustle but fell short. Savannah Weller, Mattie Schmitz, Baylee Chastain, Sidney Petty, and Jocelyn Fuentes all contributed in scoring. Addy Hobson also gave a great effort on offense and defense.
Our last home game is Thursday against Pepperell and we will be recognizing our 8th grade players!!
MAP testing begins tomorrow!
Kowen Barnes' layup with 2 seconds left gave the JV boys basketball a 22-20 overtime win Saturday at Darlington. The boys trailed by 8 with 3 minutes left before rallying to force overtime. Barnes led in scoring with 8 points.
Andon Bailey, Marlee Phipps and Browning Marlowe are the AMS Wrestlers of the Week for the past three weeks. They all received a free steak dinner from Longhorn Steakhouse in Calhoun, GA.
