AMS Weekly Events: 12-12 to 12-17
Ashworth Middle School Families:
AMS completed a soft lockdown drill. In collaboration with the Gordon County Sheriff’s Department and City of Calhoun Police Department, Ashworth Middle School is conducting a school-wide search drill with drug-sniffing dogs. This soft lockdown is to ensure all students in the building are safely accounted for, and that all students outside are safely secure with teachers.
As always, our mission at AMS is to create an environment that is safe, secure, and conducive to learning. Removing any potential threat of drugs and other prohibited items helps our students, our school culture, and our community to thrive and succeed. We appreciate everyone's understanding and support for the Tribe.
Pecans should be here early next week, and we will update as we get more information.
Last weekend Ashworth had four 8th grade student who auditioned for an event known as District VII Honor Band. Of these students, ALL four scored high enough to be given a seat to participate with the ensembles! Congratulations to Harrison Hughes, Aleia Garland, Taylor Hudson, and Jack Waits! We are so proud of you all!

Mohawk donates funds to AMS for collecting plastic, and Keep Calhoun Beautiful is matching their donations this year. We invite students and staff to join the effort and bring in your plastic bottles to recycle at school!

Ashworth Middle School Chorus is proud to announce the students who were selected to participate in the 2023 Georgia Music Educators Association All-State Chorus: Emily Demain (8th), Eddy Garcia (7th), and Cecilia Kolterman (7th). These students will join together with other middle school chorus students from all over the state of Georgia to work with well-renowned conductors in a series of rehearsals, concluding with a concert. The All-State Chorus event will take place in February at the Classic Center in Athens. We are so very proud of these students and their accomplishment.
