The 2024 Gordon County Schools Summer Feeding Program starts June 3rd through July 18th! This program serves our community by providing no-cost, healthy meals and snacks to children ages 0-18. Food will be offered Monday through Thursday each week, and Thursdays will include Friday, Saturday, and Sunday meals. Please note that all sites will be closed July 4th and 5th.
Food pickup locations are at Tolbert Elementary and Sonoraville High School from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Gordon County Schools will also have vans and buses delivering meals to our Mobile Locations marked with yard signs that read, "This is a Gordon County Summer Feeding Site." Listen for the honking horns as notification of arrival and please be patient as times will vary by each location. After the first week, we will announce more exact times for the Mobile Locations as our feeding staff workers learn and finalize their routes.
Check out the flyer for more information! The Gordon County Schools Nutrition Department, partnered with our Transportation Department, looks forward to serving families with nutritious meal options at no cost during the summer months.

Congratulations to the C.H.A.M.P.S. 5th grade graduates at Belwood Elementary! The C.H.A.M.P.S. (Choosing Healthy Activities and Methods Promoting Safety) program in Gordon County Schools is a partnership between the Gordon County Sheriff's Department and our elementary schools, serving to help empower our youth with valuable life skills and knowledge to make informed choices and contribute positively to their communities. Lieutenant Brian Brannon congratulated these 5th graders who participated in the program. Thank you Lt. Brannon, Maj. Harris and the GCSD for educating and empowering our students and community through our law enforcement partnerships.

This precious fourth grader found some money in the school hallway and turned it into the office. INTEGRITY! What a compliment when someone notices that you have integrity! We should all learn to do better! Thank you Annahlyse Mowry for being a good example for us:)

These two young ladies were Caught Being Good the other day when they were picking up trash on the playground without being asked to do so. You are amazing and we are very proud of you!
Thank you Gracelyn Stroup and Layla Hogg!

It is NURSE APPRECIATION WEEK and we couldn't be more grateful for our incredible school nurse!
She works so hard to take care of our students and teachers and staff as well! She provides us with the best care possible and we would be lost without her!
Nurse Nina graduated from Georgia Baptist School of Nursing in 1975 and has maintained license and work as an RN for the last 49 years.
Did you hear that? YES - FOURTY NINE!!!!!!!!
She's worked in Emergency departments, cardiac step-down units, Labor and delivery (may have helped birth some of our little darlings), and Utilization units.
She has also worked at Charge, Head and Director levels.
From Nurse Nina Payne:
I came to Belwood as of November of 2023.
I believe the Lord opened this new door of adventure in my professional life and I am totally "in love" with the children and staff.
Belwood is a great place to work. It makes me think of the saying " Do what you love and you'll never work another day in your life". I have found being a school nurse is indeed something I love!
And we LOVE YOU TOO Nurse Nina! Thank you for all you do!

Charlie Reid was Caught Being Good recently for following school wide expectations, which means he was listening to the teachers and following directions and being an overall good Citizen!
Keep up the Good Work, Charlie!

Today, May 1, is School Principals' Day.
Monica Holt, we APPRECIATE you!
Much of the important work that Mrs. Holt does is behind the scenes. She quietly manages school budgets, school programs, extracurricular activities, paperwork, and much, much more.
She also oversees communications with families and the community. She supports staff and students, all the while continually providing leadership and encouragement each and every day.
Did you know the average principal spends 59 hours a week working? With the wide range of responsibilities a principal has, the role requires a strong leader in order to be effective.
And we are blessed with the BESt!
YOU are LOVED Mrs. Holt!
