The Fairmount Elementary School TOME Club travelled to Gainesville to the University of North Georgia's campus yesterday to participate in the awards program of several online competitions they had competed in as well as one live competition yesterday morning. They also listened to keynote speaker Alan Gratz, author of the book Ground Zero as well as attended several literacy sessions. These student represented us well with several wins!

FES is proud to announce that Mrs. Katy Waters has been selected as our 2022-2023 Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Waters has been an educator for 12 years, 10 of those have been with GCS. During her time at FES, she has served as a first grade teacher and a media specialist. She is always willing to help anyone, she serves on various committees, and her positivity is contagious! One of her nominations stated, "Katy always goes above and beyond with each student. She interacts with all students regularly and knows them on an individual level."
Please join us in congratulating Mrs. Katy Waters for being awarded this prestigious honor!

Fairmount Elementary School received a surprise! Check out the beautiful plants in our planters! Compliments of Rustic Gardens on the square in Fairmount, GA. Thank you, Rustic Gardens, for your generous donation and beautiful plants! I know the students and staff will enjoy them this semester.

Our recycling program is up and running! I took this pic for a couple of reasons. 1) To show the size of the boxes we need to fill with recyclable plastic, 2) To give a shout-out to Mohawk for partnering with our school, and 3) to show that students/staff/parents can fill garbage bags or grocery store size bags to send or bring by the school to recycle. We get $1 each time we fill up a box and we are helping our environment! Please support our recycling efforts at FES!

Thank you to our local police departments, school resource officers, & school safety staff who help keep our schools safe!
