❤️A Little Box. A Powerful Reminder. You Are Not Alone. ❤️

Our Early Childhood Education students have been busy preparing Anchor Boxes that will soon be placed in classrooms throughout our school.

Each box is filled with encouraging messages, grounding and coping tools, and reminders that even on the hardest days, there is always something, and someone to hold on to.

Students who are struggling can use an Anchor Box when they need a moment to regroup, find encouragement, and connect with support. They can also leave a message behind for the next student who may need it.

One student helping another.

One message saying, “Keep going.”

One reminder that you matter, you are valued, and you belong here.

If you would like to help write messages to our students struggling, please contact Mrs. Townsend, mollytownsend@gcbe.org.

We are so proud of our students for helping create a culture where it’s okay to struggle, okay to ask for help, and important to look out for one another.

🇺🇸 Patriot Day | We Will Never Forget

Today, Sonoraville High School joins our nation in remembering the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and honoring the courage of the first responders, service members, and everyday heroes who answered tragedy with extraordinary bravery and selflessness.

May we continue to remember those we lost, honor those who served, and reflect on the strength and unity shown in the days that followed.

We will never forget.

Sonoraville High School students in Mr. Schuster’s U.S. History class were engaged in a lesson about George Washington, our first President of the United States.

Students shared thoughtful responses about Washington running unopposed, not being affiliated with a political party, and helping create important precedents for future presidents. Through the discussion, students explored how Washington’s leadership helped shape the role of the presidency and the early direction of our nation.

It was a great day of learning, discussion, and historical thinking at SHS.

If you have not yet completed the 2027-2028 School Calendar Survey, please take a few moments to share your preference between Option 1 and Option 2. The primary difference between the two proposed calendars is the timing of Fall Break.

The survey also includes an optional section about school and district communications. These questions will help us better understand how you receive information, which communication tools you prefer, and whether there is interest in exploring a more centralized approach to communication.

The communications portion is completely optional and is not required in order to submit your calendar selection.

The survey closes September 1. Please submit your response using this link: https://forms.gle/wM3v9A7N4SfNDoRg6

Thank you for taking a few moments to provide your feedback!

Sonoraville High School construction students work hard in Mr. Dooley’s classroom!

Students were sanding and painting classroom tables to make improvements while also preparing for their upcoming mock SkillsUSA competition. These activities give students the chance to practice craftsmanship, problem-solving, attention to detail, and the hands on skills needed to succeed in the construction pathway.

Mr. Dooley is well known throughout Gordon County Schools for teaching and coaching numerous SkillsUSA state champions, and that tradition of excellence continues to set a strong standard for his students. We are excited to see how these Phoenix students continue to grow, compete, and succeed this year!
