Rushi Patel has been named Valedictorian of the Class of 2026. He is the son of Tony and Dilpa Patel and plans to attend the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he will major in Finance.
Morgan Ava Guyton has been named Salutatorian of the Class of 2026. She is the daughter of Alan and Jackie Guyton and plans to attend the University of Georgia, where she will major in English.

Last night’s graduation ceremony marked the beginning of a new journey for these students as they move forward into postsecondary education, careers, military service, and other exciting opportunities.
Thank you to the Phoenix Singers, led by chorus director Hannah Nelson, for sharing their talents during the ceremony. Senior Class Vice President Jasper Knight led the Pledge of Allegiance, and Student Body President Mckenna Boswell welcomed families and friends with her greeting speech. Salutatorian Morgan Guyton and Valedictorian Rushi Patel reflected on their school experiences and offered words of encouragement to their classmates, while Senior Class President Alexandra Reyes closed the ceremony with her farewell speech.
Sonoraville High School Principal Amy Stewart spoke from the heart as she recognized the potential, determination, and bright futures of these graduates. Superintendent Alice Mashburn accepted the recommendation for graduation and congratulated the Class of 2026 for their achievements.
Congratulations, Phoenix graduates! Gordon County Schools is proud of you and excited to see all that you will accomplish.





This is a reminder regarding important details for the upcoming graduation ceremony:
- Graduation practice is Wednesday, 5/20, at 8:00 AM at the Dalton Convention Center
- All seniors must be present at graduation practice to walk
- Seniors must report back to the Dalton Convention Center at 5:30 PM for check-in
- Doors will open for families and friends at 6:00 PM.
- Graduation tickets are required for entry. Each graduate received 11 tickets.
There will be no overflow seating, so please plan accordingly.
- Each graduate received 3 parking passes, which the Dalton Convention Center requires to park at the center.
- Overflow parking will be available at Dalton College (lot next to the tennis courts).
- Multiple shuttle buses will transport guests from the college to the convention center.
- The ceremony will be live streamed for those unable to attend the ceremony. A link will be provided on SHS social media accounts.
