Congratulations to the winners of the 2025–2026 Gordon County Schools Technology Competition!
Students in grades 3–12 from across the district showcased their creativity and innovation by submitting original technology projects. Students competed individually or in pairs/teams across grade bands (3–4, 5–6, 7–8, 9–10, 11–12) in categories such as 3D Modeling, Animation, Game Design, Programming, Robotics, Video Production, Web & Mobile Apps, and more.
This year’s competition doubled in participation, with 200+ students, 138 projects, and representation from every campus. From those entries, 38 winning projects by 60 students were selected to advance to the Northwest Georgia Technology Competition on January 30 at Georgia Highlands College!

Over three days, students rehearsed in two honor ensembles alongside top band students from North Georgia, attended inspiring concerts—including a performance by the Georgia Brass Band—and wrapped up the weekend with an outstanding concert on Saturday night.

Sonoraville High School’s 2026 STAR Student is Morgan Guyton. Morgan is the daughter of Alan and Jackie Guyton and plans to attend the University of Georgia to major in English. She selected Sonoraville High School science teacher Samantha Watson as her STAR Teacher because of Mrs. Watson’s passion for science, ability to teach hard concepts, and dedication to her students. Morgan loves how Mrs. Watson builds relationships while teaching with rigor.
The Student Teacher Achievement Program (STAR) is sponsored, administered, and promoted by the Professional Association of Georgia Educators Foundation (PAGE) and the PAGE Foundation. Since its inception in 1958, the STAR program has honored more than 29,000 students and the teachers they have selected as having the most influence on their academic achievement. To obtain the STAR nomination, graduating high school seniors must have the highest score on a single test date on the SAT and be in the top 10 percent or top 10 students of their class based on grade point average.

Our school system prepares Gordon County high school students with life after graduation through career planning and pathway courses. Families work with our high schools during registration to help map out a minimum of three related Georgia Career Clusters to help identify potential career paths and navigate to greater success in the real world.
The purpose of graduating with a completed career pathway is to show students the importance of what they are learning in the classroom, whether they want to attend a two-year college, a four-year university, serve in our military, or go straight into the workforce. By taking courses in advanced academics, world languages, fine arts, or Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE), our students are better prepared and ready for life after high school.
Gordon County Schools is very proud of its 2025 senior class, and we look forward to seeing this continued success with our upcoming graduates.
