Congratulations to Mrs. Ashley Brookshire for being named the new assistant principal at Sonoraville High School! Announced at this evening's Board of Education meeting, Mrs. Brookshire brings a deep commitment to SHS, where she has served as an English teacher since beginning her career as a Phoenix in 2008. Over the years, she has taken on leadership roles, including serving as English Department Lead, and has been recognized as the SHS STAR Teacher in 2019, 2021, and 2023. In 2023, she was also honored as Sonoraville High School’s Teacher of the Year. Additionally, she completed the GLISI Leadership Academy for Gordon County Schools, further preparing her for this next step. We are proud to celebrate this well-deserved achievement and look forward to the continued impact Mrs. Brookshire will have in her new role. Go Phoenix!

CONGRATULATIONS to the SHS LADY PHOENIX tennis team on their dominating performance, winning 3-2 over the EAGLES of North Cobb Christian, and claiming their first 7AA Region Championship. The boys came away with a third place finish, defeating the YELLOW JACKETS of Rockmart 3-0. Both teams will be back in action next week at Model. Congratulations to Sonoraville High School social studies teacher Nathan Schuster on being named a District Teacher of the Year finalist! With eight years of teaching experience at SHS, Nathan serves as the social studies department lead teacher. In addition to his leadership in the classroom, he has an extensive coaching background, previously serving as head baseball coach at Red Bud Middle School and currently coaching as boys’ and girls’ golf coach and assistant varsity football coach at Sonoraville High. Nathan's dedication has earned him several honors, including 2022 Sonoraville High School STAR Teacher and 2022 4A Wide Receiver Coach of the Year. Ema Beckman, Danielle Ralston, and Carla Ramirez showcased their talents in the Girls Trio competition and represented our school with pride.
