EOC Testing Reminders:
If your student begins a testing session and leaves campus before completing it (e.g., for an appointment, illness, etc.), they may not be allowed to return to that testing session. Please do not schedule appointments on test days. The office cannot interrupt a testing session, once started, to call students.
Students, please make sure you have iPads charged and ready for test days.
Remember, the EOC is 20% of your grade!

We are so proud to celebrate Sonoraville High School Senior, Yakecen Montalvo, who was honored by Georgia State Superintendent Richard Woods as 2025 Seal of Biliteracy Star Student for Spanish. Yakecen is pictured with Superintendent Woods and his AP Spanish Teacher, Mrs. Ale Beckman.
The Georgia Seal of Biliteracy is awarded to high school students who demonstrate proficiency in English and one other language. Yakecen chose Spanish at SHS and excelled through AP Spanish. This prestigious seal appears on both diploma and transcript, showcasing the student's linguistic excellence.

Last week, Mrs. Beckman’s Spanish IV students had the unique opportunity to learn from local community leaders—family members of our students and proud members of the Phoenix family. Guest speakers—including small business owners and a real estate agent—shared their inspiring stories, offering valuable insights.
Students not only gained knowledge about leadership and entrepreneurship but also deepened their cultural understanding by exploring how language and identity shape professional experiences in our diverse community. ¡Aprender español abre puertas!
Mrs. Lyles and Mrs. Roberson's Environmental Science classes experienced a wonderful learning opportunity at Zoo Atlanta on Thursday April 24, 2026! Thank you to our awesome chaperones who made the trip more and manageable- Mrs. Anglin, Mrs. Cascio, Mrs. Cordell, Mrs. Davis, Mrs. Harper, Mrs. Lovins, and Mrs. Long!

Congratulations to Makena Blalock, a senior at Sonoraville High School, for being recognized for her service as the Georgia State FFA Secretary for the 2024-2025 school year at the FFA State Convention today!
There is an ESOL meeting for families next Thursday, May 1st at 5:30. This is for all Gordon County middle and high schools. Scan the QR code to RSVP by April 28th. The focus of this meeting is to prevent summer learning loss, understand grading policies, high school credits, state testing scores, and a questions and answers session. Snacks will be provided with interpreters there to help with your questions and concerns.

Seniors can pick up their prom tickets on Thursday, 4/24, from Mrs. Farmer in the counseling office. Tickets are $50/each until Friday and will go up to $75/each at the door. It has been a busy week for visual arts students! Congressman Loudermilk presented awards to the winners of the congressional art competition Wednesday at the Harris Arts Center. Thank you to Isabelle Fantom, SHS senior, for participating in the competition this year!
