Gordon County Schools proudly recognizes and celebrates the achievements of its four extraordinary 2024-2025 Georgia REACH Scholars: Jasmine Castillo, Sarai Moran Anguiano, Naythan Alvarez, and Wildon Garcia-Corado. These remarkable students were honored today for their commitment to academic excellence and their determination to build a brighter future.
The REACH (Realizing Educational Achievement Can Happen) Georgia Scholarship Program is a needs-based mentorship and scholarship initiative designed to ensure that academically promising students have the support they need to succeed in college and beyond. By becoming REACH Scholars, students pledge to uphold high academic standards, maintain excellent behavior, and work closely with mentors and graduation coaches as they prepare for post-secondary education. Upon completing the program, each scholar receives a scholarship to help make their college dreams a reality.
The ceremony also recognized the vital role families, educators, and mentors play in shaping the future of these young leaders. Graduation coaches Jamey Angland from Gordon Central High School and Judy Craig from Sonoraville High School will work closely with the scholars, guiding them through this transformative journey throughout high school.
Congratulations to Jasmine, Sarai, Naythan, and Wildon on this incredible achievement. We are confident that their dedication, supported by the REACH program and our community, will lead them to a future filled with limitless possibilities.

Shooting high score for the Commanders was Cadet Sergeant Major Jaden Cromer-Brock with a match score of 230. “A team shooting sporter rifles to be this competitive against a team shooting precision rifles is a remarkable feat” said Coach COL(R) Wallace Steinbrecher. “As we receive new precision air rifles, I expect this team to become one of the most competitive in Area 10.”
Shooters at this match were:
Cadet Sergeant Major Jaden Cromer-Brock (GCHS)
Cadet Private Kai Dover (SHS)
Cadet Private Kaleb King (SHS)
Cadet Staff Sergeant Maya Montijo (SHS)

Mr. Stodghill's animal science class had a guest speaker Dr. Seth Stowers, DVM owner of Hillside Veterinary Services, LLC. Dr. Stowers performed 2 swine castrations. One on a normal boar pig and the other on a cryptorchid. The cryptorchid was a surgical procedure. Mr. Stodghill's class has been covering animal reproduction and his students had many questions for Dr. Stowers. After the procedures Dr. Stowers answered questions about college and vet. school.
Thank you, Dr. Stowers!
