Foreign Language Students had the opportunity to learn about the bread making tradition during Día de los Muertos. Students participated in the kneading of the bones for the bread made by the head baker at La Esperanza Bakary in Dalton. We also enjoyed learning about different items sold at a typical Hispanic business store, tried traditional Mexican ice cream, tamales, and drinks, and enjoyed some great Fall weather at the park.

The cross-country team competed in their region meet at Heritage. All runners ran hard and ran great times! Sadly, we came up short but had a wonderful season. Both coaches are proud of each athlete and can’t wait for next season!
We also recognized our 4 seniors last night. Pictured are Lizeth Bautista, Janelle Lopez, Ellen Robertson, and Jesse Hendrix. Seniors have had a wonderful 3-4 years of cross country, and we’re excited to see what the future holds for them!

This week, Mr. Gomez and his Spanish students have been working on a Day of the Dead altar. The altar is dedicated to Bartolome de las Casas. Among many of his accomplishments, Bartolome fought for the right of the natives in the New World.
The Day of the Dead is a celebration of the lives of those who have passed away. Students really took their time and thought about intricate details to include, and they added their own personal touch by writing about their own family members who have passed.
