The SHS Phoenix Boys Tennis Team swept North Hall and will be moving on to the SWEET SIXTEEN!! Finishing up first were Ross Stewart, Will Dunnaway, Braxton Coats, Ross White, and Garrett McGill. Round 2 match date and time is TBD.
Our girls fought a hard battle against Cherokee Bluff. Unfortunately, they lost 2-3. Morgan Guyton & Reese Davis won their singles matches. We are so proud of the season they have had!


Sonoraville High School EOCT Schedule May 2023
Students who are testing should make sure to have a fully charged iPads and make every effort to be present on the days of testing. Early checkouts should be avoided on these dates for those involved in EOC testing. As a reminder, the EOC counts 20% of the final average in the course.

ROAD TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP!! Phoenix Hall Walk for the SHS Tennis Teams.

Our first round is set for Wednesday, April 19th at our courts. Girls will play at 10am vs Cherokee Bluff and boys will play at 2pm vs North Hall.
The PHOENIX boys tennis team will be going into the state playoffs as the number 1 seed representing Region 7-AAAA and will host the number 4 seed, North Hall TROJANS, representing Region 8-AAAA.
The LADY PHOENIX will represent Region 7-AAAA as the number 2 seed and will host the number 3 seed Cherokee Bluff LADY BEARS, representing Region 8-AAAA.

TONIGHT, Monday-April 17, is Senior Night for the baseball team. We’d love to pack the stands to celebrate our Seniors & to cheer us on in Game 1 of the Region Championship series. If you haven’t been to a game at our new field, The Inferno, this game should certainly be one to see. SHS & Cedartown are both ranked in the top 10 in the state.
Senior Night activities will start at 5:10. GOOOOO PHOENIX!!

The SHS Boys Tennis team secured the region CHAMPIONSHIP in a 3-0 sweep against Cedartown. That makes them back-to-back region champions in two different regions.
The SHS Girls Tennis team lost a close one 2-3 to Central Carrollton making them region runner up this season.
Both SHS Tennis Teams get the privilege to host the STATE playoffs.
They are focused on their mission! They will continue to put in the work to prepare for the playoffs! SHS is so proud of each of them! Please congratulate the Coaches and Athletes when you see them. GOOOOO PHOENIX!!



Sonoraville High FFA will be hosting a plant sale Wednesday, April 12 through Friday, April 14 from 12:00 to 5:00 PM! A variety of ferns, flowers, tomatoes, etc. will be sold. Stop by, support agricultural education students, and get your summer garden started! We appreciate your support! GOOO PHOENIX!!



Congratulations to our PHOENIX tennis teams on their dominating performance in the region tournament. Both teams came away with convincing wins, and will play for the region championship Tuesday, April 11th at 11:00 am at Lakeshore in Dalton.

SHS APRIL 2023 Breakfast & Lunch Menus



On Tuesday, March 28th, the following seniors from Sonoraville High School graduated from the Calhoun-Gordon County Youth Leadership Program: Katey Ball, Kayleigh Kelley, Serenity Price, Ansleigh Quarles, Rance Smith, and Taylor West. These students were selected to participate in several events throughout the year, including tours of local business and service industries, meetings with local and state government officials, and interactions with community resource and arts and culture representatives. The program is sponsored by the Gordon County Chamber of Commerce.

GOOOOO PHOENIX!! Both the girls’ and boys’ soccer teams defeated Ridgeland last night to finish their season strong on Senior Night. The girls won 3-1 and had goals scored by Charity Perez, Fatima Toledo, and Lily Kindl. The boys dominated Ridgeland 8-2. Mateo Trujillo led the team with 3 goals. William Soldevilla, Sergio Perez, Kevin Garcia, Jose Garcia, and Daniel Perez added a goal each. Please congratulate both teams and coaches when you see them.

Sonoraville High School is pleased to announce Carmelita Everett as the 2023-24 Teacher of the Year. Ms. Everett strives to create relevant and engaging lessons. Her passion about teaching science in an interactive manner is evident every day. Students are excited to attend her class, often sharing experiences with family and friends. Ms. Everett makes strong connections with students and staff, leaving no doubt how much she cares. Her positive, energetic attitude and support of all extracurricular activities brings a lot of spirit to the SHS campus.


Gordon County Schools (GCS) is pleased to announce the 2023-24 School Teachers of the Year Winners.
In the spring semester each school year, each GCS school is asked to select its own Teacher of the Year using nominations received from fellow staff members and community stakeholders. All school-level winners then become eligible to compete for the honor of being named the Gordon County Schools System Teacher of the Year.
The annual system-wide competition is judged by a panel of community partners, retired educators, and system leadership based on applications submitted by school-level winners and classroom observations.
Three system finalists will be announced the week of March 27th and the 2023-24 Gordon County Schools System Teacher of the Year will be announced at the annual banquet tentatively scheduled for May 2nd. The winner of the system-wide honor will represent Gordon County Schools on the state level for the Georgia Teacher of the Year competition.
