Mrs. Crow’s American Government class “tasted the Constitution” today by diving into the ingredients that makeup each branch of the U.S. government. After finding all of the ingredients, they added them to their recipe for the U.S. Constitution. More photos: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.5251015071683595

Congratulations to the following SHS Art students for winning the Mohawk design contest and special thanks to the Laura Wood and the Mohawk design team for working with us! Jada Hawkins, Kaysen Mashburn, Kenzie Bailey, Ximena Morataya, Georgia Lupo, Conner Boling (not pictured), Arial Findley (not pictured) Last semester, Hannah Roddy, SHS Art Teacher, reached out to Mohawk to see if they could collaborate on something that would resemble a real-world design challenge and they created a competition for all of the SHS art classes. During their initial visit, students were challenged with creating a carpet design based on the theme, "We are all connected" using a maximum of 8 colors. The Mohawk design team provided PowerPoint presentations and talked to students about the design process, the emphasis on sustainability and what their job is like as designers. They also showed us images of the light lab and the history of the light lab. They talked to the students about how the original idea was inspired by mushroom systems in the forest but allowed students to create their own interpretation of the theme. Once the design team selected the winning designs, they printed the designs in their light lab on samples for the students to keep! The winning students also received certificates, goody bags and gift cards!
