The Sonoraville Future Business Leaders of America chapter has won the prestigious Gold Chapter Award! This remarkable achievement can be attributed to the hard work and dedication of our exceptional students who have shown unwavering commitment towards FBLA's mission of preparing students for future careers in business and entrepreneurship. The FBLA Gold Chapter Award is a significant accomplishment that recognizes chapters for their outstanding efforts in promoting membership, community service, education, and leadership development. SHS sophomore, Morgan Guyton, has won 10th place in the state in the FBLA Introduction to Event Planning competitive event! This competitive event consisted of a role-play scenario where Morgan had to demonstrate critical thinking, marketing, and the ability to plan and execute successful events that meet the needs of clients and customers. Her creativity, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills have set her apart from her peers, and we are incredibly proud of her achievement. Congratulations, Morgan!

Thank you to Mohawk and Keep Calhoun-Gordon County Beautiful for the recycling donations . Our students and staff have worked hard to recycle and keep our county beautiful! Last year, SHS recycled 175 bags of plastic!

SHS Sophomore Class Ring Order Information

Gordon County Schools is on an early release schedule Wednesday, March 13th and Thursday, March 14th for Parent Conferences. We hope families were able to schedule time to meet with teachers to discuss your child's progress this year. If not, you are encouraged to stay in contact with your school and connect with teachers to find time to discuss academic achievement and future goals. Friday, March 15th is an At-Home Learning Day. We hope that your child or children are able to explore learning opportunities that day and catch up on assignments, projects, and materials as we approach End-of-Course and End-of-Grade Milestones testing.

Congratulations to the SHS Symphonic Band for another outstanding performance at the GMEA Large Group Performance Evaluation! The band received an overall Superior rating for their stage performance as well as a Superior rating for their Sightreading performance. Great job, Phoenix!!

Congratulations to Sonoraville High School's Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Ashley Brookshire! As the leader of her department, Ashley exemplifies unwavering dedication and exceptional leadership skills. Ashley's commitment extends beyond the classroom as she actively contributes to co-curricular groups such as Literary and Youth Leadership. With intention, Ashley makes meaningful connections with her students. Because she interacts with students in a pleasant, affirming manner (with a loving dose of wit) and because of her efforts to design engaging lessons, she has created a positive learning environment. Ashley "Sets a Higher Standard" in everything she does. As a result, her peers also hold her in high regard.

Maya Beckman and Isabel Ulibarri attended the Georgia Northern Mountain District Speech and Debate Tournament at Calhoun High School on Saturday, March 2nd. Isabel competed in the U.S. Extemporary Speech Event and Maya Beckman represented Original Oratory. In addition, Coach Sonja Mangrum won the District New Coach of the Year award.
